Plain-English summary, not legal advice

These pages describe what this site actually does. They are written in good faith for a small fan site and aren't a substitute for advice from a lawyer.

Summary

  • There are no accounts, sign-ups, comments, payments or forms. We never ask for your name or email.
  • There are no ads and no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • We use Google Analytics (through Google Tag Manager) and PostHog to see which pages and tools people use. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them; in the EEA, UK and Switzerland they are off until you do.
  • The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps short-lived server logs.
  • You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer. The Cookie Policy lists everything stored on your device.

Who runs this site

Psijic Pages (psijicpages.com) is a free, non-commercial fan site about The Elder Scrolls Online, run by an individual player. For this policy, “we” means the person who runs it, who is the data controller. For any privacy question or request, email privacy@psijicpages.com.

What we collect

When you visit any page

Like every website, our host receives technical details needed to deliver the page: your IP address, browser and device type (user agent), the page requested, the referring page and the time. We don't use these to identify you.

Analytics, only with your consent

If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics and PostHog record how the site is used:

  • pages viewed, how long you stay and how you got here (referrer, search engine or campaign);
  • clicks and interactions with the builds and tools, such as which tab or calculator option you use;
  • approximate location (country or city, worked out from your IP address), browser, operating system, screen size and language;
  • a random identifier stored in a cookie, so repeat visits can be counted as one visitor.

Google Analytics doesn't store full IP addresses. PostHog is configured to use our own domain (requests go through /ingest on this site) and its EU servers.

Without consent

If you decline, or haven't chosen yet, no analytics cookies or identifiers are stored on your device. Two things can still happen:

  • Google Consent Mode lets Google's tag send cookieless signals (for example that a page was viewed and that consent was denied) without any identifier, which Google uses for aggregate modelling.
  • After you decline, PostHog counts page views in cookieless mode: nothing is stored on your device, and visitors are told apart for one day at most using a hash of the IP address and user agent with a salt that changes daily. The hash can't be reversed and isn't linked to anything else.

Things that stay on your device

Your cookie choice is saved in your browser's local storage, and the calculators keep their inputs in session storage so a reload doesn't lose them. Build Editor builds live in the page address (URL), which only you share. None of this is sent to us.

If you email us

We'll see your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply.

Why, and on what basis

Where UK or EU data protection law (GDPR) applies, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Consent for analytics cookies and the data they collect. You can withdraw it at any time with Cookie settings; that doesn't affect what was collected before.
  • Legitimate interests for server logs (keeping the site secure, working and free of abuse) and for cookieless, aggregate page counts (knowing which builds are worth keeping up to date), where the impact on you is minimal.
  • Legitimate interests for answering emails you send.

We don't sell personal data, share it for advertising, build profiles for marketing or make automated decisions about you.

Who processes it

These companies process data on our behalf, under their own data processing terms:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Links to other sites, such as the UESP wiki or ESO-Hub, are governed by those sites' own policies.

International transfers

Vercel and Google may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, these providers rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (and its UK extension) or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long it's kept

  • Hosting logs: kept by Vercel for a short period (days to weeks) for operations and security.
  • Google Analytics: user-level data is deleted after the retention period set in Google Analytics, at most 14 months. Aggregated reports have no identifiers.
  • PostHog: events are kept for as long as the project's PostHog plan retains them, and deleted when no longer useful.
  • Emails: until the conversation is finished, then deleted within a year.
  • Cookies: see the Cookie Policy for each one's lifetime.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the UK or EU GDPR, or Californian law), you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data about you, object to or restrict how it's used, and receive a copy of it. You can withdraw consent at any time with Cookie settings, by clearing this site's cookies, or with a browser that blocks analytics. Because we don't know who you are, we may need an identifier (such as the value of the cookie) to find your data.

Email privacy@psijicpages.com and we'll reply within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the ICO in the UK.

Children

The site is a general game guide and isn't aimed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live, up to 16).

Changes

If the site starts using a new service or collects something new, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
